-
Teeth with large areas of decay or large existing restorations are at risk for fracture. If you have a tooth break, please call the office to schedule an appointment during normal business hours. In the meantime, you can use temporary filling material that is available at your local pharmacy or paraffin wax to help cover the exposed area until you can be seen at our office. It is completely normal for a tooth that has lost a filling or has broken to feel sensitive.
-
Handle it carefully; do not touch the roots as they damage easily.
If the tooth is dirty, do not try to wipe the tooth. Rinse carefully with milk or water.
Keep the tooth moist or wet in a glass of milk; if you are not able to do this, keep the tooth in your mouth between your cheek and gum.
Try gently slipping the tooth back in the socket until you can get emergency care, but be careful to place it in the right way.
-
If a crown or bridge falls out please call the office to make an appointment as soon as you are able. In the meantime, you can use temporary cement that is available at your local pharmacy (or toothpaste) to replace the crown until you can be seen during normal business hours. It is completely normal for a tooth that is missing a crown/bridge to feel sensitive.
-
Use floss to gently remove the offending object. Do not use sharp or pointed items to push or pry the object from your teeth. If the object does not come out easily, please call the office to make an appointment during normal business hours.
